Events: Registration Renovation
Pros love our Events features and we hope to keep improving it with your feedback.
You can now broadcast your Event to the world and let your guests register to pick Favorites. This frees you up to shoot, promote, and book your next gig.
We’ve refined our Registration option by adding another tier: Suggested. Events set this way will prompt visitors to register when the Event is first viewed, but they can bypass it to browse the event as a guest.
“Optional” registration now only prompts for registration when the Favorites heart at the top is clicked. To make this more clear, we’ve changed the link to read “Register to Pick Favorites.”

We also heard your feedback and show more of the Event name on the page so your visitors can easily find the right gallery.

Bug fixes:
- A few of you noticed a small navigation bug in our Stats Popularity tab. We’ve fixed that so you can browse without a hitch.
- Pros: We now check to be sure that your custom watermarks have a unique name entered before you can successfully save it. This makes it loads easier to choose the one you want come crunch time.
- We fixed broken lightbox views when clicking photos in the Popular Photos > All-time gallery.
- Chrome users can watch videos smoothly. If you still have trouble, be sure you’ve got the latest Adobe Flash.

Hi, this is exif that would be embedded in your display copies. So you’d download a display copy (-Th, -Ti, -S, -L, -XL, -X2, -X3) and then view the image locally and see the exif and other embedded data. This only is for NEW images uploaded since last night – older images on your site won’t have it until you reprocess them on SmugMug (like by rotating left/right, adding or removing a watermark – if you’re a pro – or cropping, color effects, etc).
If you want to see exif displayed on SmugMug, enable it in gallery settings – camera info ‘yes’. Then hover over the main image and you’ll see a blue I icon.

So, it seems there is no way to do this globally? When I go to change watermarks for all galleries, I can change them but there is no option to update all watermarks. Does this mean I have to go to the settings page for each and every gallery, change the watermark, wait for that to finish updating, then change the watermark back(assuming I don’t want to rotate, colorize, etc)?

I just placed an order for free mini business cards. The dollar amount did not come off during the check out process. I do have a pro account. Is a code needed?

I get this error after clicking the link, logging in and saying OK to authorize Moo’s access to my pics:
Ack! SmugMug doesn’t recognize this application’s credentials.
We’re really sorry, but for some reason we’re unable to authorize an application that wants to access your account.
We enable you to securely authorize many great applications so you can do exciting things with your photos, but this particular application did not provide all the information we need.
We hate having to say this because it sounds like we’re passing the buck, but you’ll have to contact whoever developed it.

I have wanted to get their cards for a couple of years, but was not really quite skilled enough to create the right size and totally paralyzed in deciding which pictures to use. This is a great teaming…however, when I picked out my shots and went to the next step it said SmugMug is down..is that going to be for awhile? Everytime I try to use the Moo feature, I am getting an error message that says “There appears to be a problem with the SmugMug site.” I can select images, but when I attempt to advance to the crop/edit stage, it fritzes out.
Hi Holly, I’m so sorry! Please go to your control panel on SmugMug, settings tab. Then remove the Moo token, and then go try again. All should be fine!
I’m sorry -what do you mean remove the token? “Change” or “Revoke”? Or change the permission level? It’s currently set to “Read.”

Registration is cool. How about a way to see/organize a view of the top favorites from an event? Also, I don’t see an easy way to send one email to everyone registered. Is that coming? Also, Slideshow is an A+. Thanks for that. I would like to have more keywords in there to filter out the photos from the included galleries… Thanks for ingesting my feedback.
No need to apply a different watermark. Just use the Tools button > many photos > more > watermarking tool in a gallery and apply the watermark again that you want to use to all photos.
There’s currently no bulk tool to watermark multiple galleries at a time. Sorry.

I am running a MAC with OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I can click onto the MOO website, but it will now show my photos (choose image). I can’t seam to get passed this step. Any insight? I would love to give these guys a try… Please advise.

I was wondering if Moo is available to just us photographers or to the client as well. I find it is difficult to for my customers to make or deal w/ the cropping needed to make traditionally shaped greeting cards and wondered if Moo offered a better way? Maybe something like Cafee press does, or even Redbubble (Redbubble just makes theirs slightly larger.
I realize I can just do my own cropping post production, but time is money, and I don’t make extra for doing that if a customer even lets me know they need it and I don’t like just having it as a service I always do as I never know how the customer may want the crop, though I may start doing this and just increasing prices to reflect the extra effort. Plus, I have found some people just don’t buy at all or ever let me know they had a problem and seeing Moo, I am hoping maybe that can be solved.

Does the watermark appear on the cards or do the photos need to come from a gallery without a watermark? I linked moo to my smug mug gallery and all the photos are showing the watermark.
I’m having the same issue. I contacted Moo and was told that if the watermark shows up on the image preview then it will be printed on the image. I have a feeling this isn’t correct, but I’m afraid to order and find out I’m wrong. Can anyone answer this please??

Hi Preston. You can click on to http://www.moo.com/smugmug. There is also a link that is listed under “Buy” called business cards. That will take you the page noted here and you can pull in your SmugMug photos and put on MOO’s products.

Have had nothing but problems trying to access the MOO site. So far, unsuccessful on all attempts (can’t log in [although the logon screen assures me that an account will be created for me automatically--which is all well & good, except that I can't get past the logon screen to begin with!]; can’t “begin designing business cards” [just takes me back to the same screen]).
I’ve sent questions to MOO tech support and am awaiting response, but just thought I’d give folks a heads-up on this.

MOO problem
I was on a gallery with pricing enabled, clicked on the business cards option, but Moo will not load the photos. Got the error message noted above: “Ack! SmugMug doesn’t recognize this application’s credentials. etc. On the Moo site, all my photos are blank thumbs with a red X. I do not want to have to enable pricing on all my galleries (not ready for that yet).
I know I just sent an email about this but thought I’d post it here also.

I can’t get my images to load into the MOO site. I’ve no images to choose from to allow them to make any cards… I’ve thousands with Smugmug too…. any answers anyone…..

I tried to do 100 mini cards. Almost thru dragging images and my mouse slipped off the screen. Blank screen came up with one image. Back button. Everything gone. Started over. Dragged 100 images into the box. Clicked next step and 9 images were there. Hit back and all gone again. I give up. Don’t have time for this. thanks anyway

I’m sorry to hear you had difficulty. That is frustrating. I would suggest a quick way to do 100 MiniCards is to select the “add random 10″ button. It quickly brings in 10 photos at a time. This way you can collect 100 really quickly.Also, you can also create cards with only a few images and we’ll print multiple of each one

Try this – create a new gallery, make it “smart” and include only images w/ keyword “moo” in them (or whatever). Then go through your images and add “moo” to the images you want to use… then start the moo process, load the moo gallery and voila! Just drag the ones from this gallery… Hope this helps!

I’m wondering the same thing as Gwen. I have my minicards ready to go, but my watermark appears on all the images. Will the watermark show up on the printed cards, or do I need to remove it before ordering the cards?
Has anyone addressed this? I contaced Moo and was told if hte WM is on the previe it will be on the cards, but it doesn’t make sense to me that we woudl have to remove the WM and then put it back on after we’ve placed the order. Has anyone else noticed this and then placed an order to see if the WM shows-up??

Hi Maria, as long as your watermarks have been applied through SmugMug’s Watermarking feature they should not appear on your MOO cards, since we mark only the display copies and the original is left clean. Hope this helps!

I was about to submit my order and buy one of those cool mosaic mini card frames but am holding off because of $18+ shipping… that’s ridiculous for a small box of cards and a 10×17 plastic frame! I know the cards are free but that’s still not worth it to me.

I went ahead with my order, and the watermark wasn’t on the preview versions of the minicards, so I’m hoping it doesn’t appear on the printed cards. The discount was applied right before purchase, and I ended up only paying $6 for shipping; however, I didn’t buy anything but the 100 minicards.
Why is my gallery not uploading in chronological order? all of my photos are numbered. Is there an easy way to correct the random uploading. I just uploaded an event with over 1000 images, and I do not want to go through the one by one… Thanks for the help. I am a subscriber at the pro level and I just joined 2 days ago. Aside from this, I have loved smugmug thus far.

I tried to place an order with MOO today and they also did not apply the discount so I aborted the problem. I will try again once a notice goes out that this is fixed.
Same problems here that everyone else is experiencing. Moo doesn’t show my pictures (can see the albums though). So I can’t select a picture. Get the ACK message from SmugMug. Sent a note about this to SmugMug and was told nothing could be done about, I need to contact Moo.
Didn’t anyone bother to test the system before making the offer? Unfortunately for me I am traveling until the 1st of August and won’t be able to benefit from what I assume will be a fix some time next week.
Thanks to Chris Abbey, I just found out that there are two things to do to make this work. First, revoke Moo’s access to your galleries. Do that in the control panel, setting tab. I then closed SmugMug and cleared my cache, though that may not be necessary. People who have not tried to use Moo yet don’t need to do this as they have fixed the problem.
The second step is that for every gallery where your photos you want to use are located, you must allow external linking. Remember you have to keep your controls that way until after your order has been created. An alternative approach would be to create a separate temporary gallery for those photos.
Once I did this the process went smoothly. One thing though is that when you order it looks like you are being charged the full amount. You need to scroll to the bottom of the page to see the tab to submit for your free cards.
How do you give MOO access to the galleries again once you’ve revoked it?
After several attempts at reloading my photos over and over I finally got it to work . But in my frustration I failed to notice I got charged the full price. Unbelievable.

I *WAS* really excited to try out Moo. After much hassle trying to uplosd (similar to what others here have mentioned) my order has been trapped in the shopping cart because the pro discount from Sumg wasn’t being applied. I contacted Moo last week and still no word back.

Event registration is great and my customers are adopting it.
Navigation back from Gallerys in an Event is an issue as after entering a gallery we have registered as an event the navigation is to the event not the normal Category/Subcategory navigation.
Also gallerys in Events do not display Long Gallery names (except with the RollOver). I use these so that when displaying my site in Gallery mode they display in the order I wish. This one of a number of instances I have noticed where Smugmug Displays differently in different places for no Explainable reason except perhaps “Programmer Character”.
Repricing Favourites Gallerys does not work if Portfoilio pricing is set in th original Gallery but Image pricing does but is very tedious if repricing a Favourites gallery with many images.

Please take off the “free MOO cards” on the control panel on smugmug. It’s very misleading as the promo is already finished. I was hoping to buy some business cards… but alas.
